China Film Archive: A Sino-Foreign film cultural exchange platform for screenings and academic research
As a national-level film cultural institution, China Film Archive (CFA) serves as both a key hub for film academic research in China and a vital platform for international film cultural exchange. Its functions include film collection, restoration, screening and academic research, playing a unique and significant role in promoting the dissemination of classic films both in China and around the world.
Established in 1958, CFA has been a member of the International Federation of Film Archives since 1980. In the past decades, it held retrospective exhibitions of films from multiple countries such as the United Kingdom and France, showcasing over 300 films. Currently, more than 30,000 Chinese and foreign films from all eras are preserved in two CFA vaults located in Beijing and Xi'an.

In 2006, CFA launched a film archive digital restoration project, which not only enhances the preservation and inheritance of China's cinematic heritage but also helps share Chinese stories with the world. In addition, CFA has completed the digital preservation of more than 3,000 films and has restored hundreds of classics in 2K and 4K resolution.
