Shanghai Museum: Guardian of ancient Chinese ceramic treasures

　　The Ancient Chinese Ceramics Gallery of the Shanghai Museum displays over 570 pieces of ancient Chinese ceramic cultural relics. These range from the pottery fragments of the Xianren Cave dating back 20,000 years, the egg-shell pottery of the Longshan Culture period of the Neolithic Age, to the five famous kilns of the Song Dynasty and the blue-and-white porcelains of the Yuan and Ming dynasties. The gallery houses representative ceramic works from various eras and regions. It is one of the few exhibition halls in China that is able to present a complete picture of the development history of Chinese ceramics.

　　The emergence of mature celadon in the late Eastern Han Dynasty was a huge contribution made by China to the progress and development of human civilization. Porcelain has become a shining pearl in ancient Chinese civilization. For a long time, it was unique to China. Over time, it became a material carrier for the promotion and dissemination of Chinese culture abroad, and has also had a tremendous impact on the development of the ceramic industries in various countries around the world.
