Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the third session of the 14th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, on Monday gave a thumbs up to China's booming consumption market during the Spring Festival.

Liu made the remarks when briefing the press as the CPPCC is set to open its annual session on Tuesday.

Noting that the year 2025 marks the first Spring Festival since its inclusion in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Liu highlighted the record-high box office revenue and moviegoer count and praised the integration of traditional culture and tech.

Fueled by the upgraded visa-free policy, inbound arrivals during this year's Spring Festival hit a record high, with a 150 percent year-on-year leap, Liu pointed out.

With the successful inscription of the Spring Festival, China now boasts 44 cultural elements or practices, the most of their kind worldwide, on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list, he said, adding it demonstrated the great charm of China's outstanding traditional culture.

Last year, CPPCC members went to Shandong, Shanxi, Henan and other places to carry out thematic investigations, to talk and exchange views with front-line cultural and museum workers, and to learn in detail about the progress of important projects, such as those to trace the origins of Chinese civilization, and to put forward suggestions, he added.

To guide the whole society to establish a correct view of the history of the Chinese nation, the CPPCC also published "100 Facts on History and Culture of Community for the Chinese Nation," a book elaborating the extensive exchanges and integration among various ethnic groups in China through 100 topics, he added.

The spokesperson also said the CPPCC will continue to devote itself to the promotion of the excellent traditional Chinese culture, to constantly strengthen the people's spiritual power, and to help build the cultural foundation for the construction of the strength and rejuvenation of the nation.
