Event in Xi'an brings overseas youth and Chinese culture closer through film

   The cultural exchange event "China Travel With Chinese Films @Xi'an," jointly organized by China Global Television Network (CGTN), the Shaanxi Bureau of China Media Group (CMG) and Xiying Group, was held on February 27 in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The event was attended by some 30 participants, including a visiting French student cultural exchange group and international students studying in Xi'an.

  During the cultural exchange, the young international guests visited an exhibition of Chinese and foreign film posters at a park inside Xiying Group, and learned about the stories behind China's first international film award, the first French Golden Palm Award, and the highest awards in Chinese cinema.

  They also watched the trailers for "Ne Zha 2," "Detective Chinatown 1900," and "Creation of the Gods 2," and interacted with an actress dressed as the character Shiji Niangniang, or Lady Rocky, from "Ne Zha 2." The visitors were treated to a tour of Xiying Group's film museum, experienced the special effects production suites and entertainment facilities, and shared their understanding of Chinese movies.

  They also watched performances at "The Longest Day in Chang'an Theme Block," China's first immersive Tang dynasty-style theme block, experienced interactive intangible cultural heritage activities such as sugar painting and lacquer fan making, and also enjoyed a hanfu show. The participants talked about their first impressions of China and shared stories about living and studying in China.

  "China Travel With Chinese Films @Xi'an" is the first Chinese film-themed tourism tour tailored for overseas tourists. Using film as a medium, the event provided a new way for inbound tourists to get to know Chinese films, to taste Chinese cuisine and enjoy the local culture.
