A group of teachers from Central China Normal University and Peking Opera theater of Hubei Province embarked on a journey of cultural exchanges to Indonesia on Wednesday evening.

Focusing on the Chinese culture, they will teach 335 Chinese Indonesian youth about Chinese folk dance, folk music, martial arts, calligraphy, and Peking Opera.

Zhou Cancan, a music teacher from Central China Normal University, said that considering the age and acceptability of local students, some adjustments will be made accordingly so as to allow them to feel the charm of folk dance and the essence of Chinese culture in the limited time.

“This is my first time to teach overseas. I am really looking forward to it,” said Lu Yijun, an actress of the Peking Opera theater of Hubei Province. She will teach some classic chapters from Peking Opera, hoping to stimulate the local youth’s interest in studying China's traditional culture.

The event, titled 2024 Chinese Cultural Camp, will be held for 10 days in Pakanbaru, capital city of the Indonesian province of Riau. It aims to meet the needs of overseas Chinese youth who wish to learn about and deepen understanding of Chinese culture.

Since 2014, Hubei Province has held the event for four times respectively in Mauritius, Australia, Canada and Chile.
