Born in Siping City of Jilin Province, DONG Wei is a professor with a master degree and vice president of CFLAC (2016). 

In 1978, DONG Wei started his learning at Theatre Department of Jilin University of Arts (JUA) and upon his graduation, became a teacher and professor in JUA between 1982 and 1992. In 1995 DONG Wei became vice president of JUA and in May 2000 Deputy Director General of Culture Administration of Jilin Province. Between July 2004 and March 2009, DONG Wei became executive vice president of China Theatre Association, Director General of Arts Department and then Vice Minister of Chinese Ministry of Culture until March 2018.
