Born in Leshan City of Sichuan Province in 1959, WANG Yichuan is currently head and professor of Art School of Peking University, member of the Presidium of CFLAC (2016) and vice president of China Literary and Art Critics Association (2014).
WANG Yichuan obtained his literature doctor degree at Beijing Normal University in 1988 and traveled to Oxford University in Britain for postdoctoral study between 1988 and 1989. His recent research fields are art theory, literary theory, aesthetics and criticism in film and TV. WANG Yichuan has published such works as Utopia of Language, Aesthetics of Rhetoric Aesthetic and Introduction of Chinese Character Image as well as such essays as Subject and Object in the Course of Artistic Creation, Mental Source of Aesthetics in Chinese Calligraphy and Culture: China and World Series. WANG Yichuan was in charge of compiling New Version of Aesthetic Course, Western Literary Criticism History Course, and Theory and Practice in Criticism Course and won Excellent Works of Humanity and Social Science by Chinese Ministry of Education (CME). WANG Yichuan has even become a candidate for the 3rd Group of Excellent Talents Foster Plan in the New Century and the 1st Millions of National Talents in the New Century sponsored by CME.
