China International Folk Art Festival (CIFAF), approved by the State Council of China, is a large-scale international folk art exchange event in China. Since its inauguration in 1990 and once in every three years, CIFAF has witnessed 12 successful editions in over 40 cities throughout China. In the aim of promoting art, friendship and peace, and with distinct global, national, folkloric and people-oriented features, CIFAF has invited altogether over 170 foreign art troupes from 68 countries to participate in the festivals. The artists both at home and abroad have been organized to go to the factories, mines, enterprises, schools and rural areas to present performances in order to enrich local people’s cultural life. The success of CIFAF has made a positive contribution to deepening exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, enhancing the people-to-people connectivity, promoting the spirit of the “Belt & Road” Initiative and building up the Community of a Shared Future for Mankind.
