Founded in 1949, China Film Association (CFA) is the biggest professional film organization in China, comprising 31 group members and over 7000 personal members of domestic and overseas award-winning directors, actors and actresses, producers and distributors, screenwriters, cinematographers, music composers, art and sound designers, film critics and educators, and academic researchers of the film profession. By communication and coordination among its members, CFA functions as a non-governmental hub for organizing, guiding and serving the Chinese film community as well as for safeguarding their lawful rights.
CFA liaisons with film institutions and filmmakers from more than 40 countries and regions, and cooperates with them on a series of film screenings and forums annually.
CFA is the sponsor for the China Golden Rooster Awards and the Hundred Flowers Awards. These are the two most comprehensive and authoritative professional film awards in the Chinese film community. China Golden Rooster Awards is held annually, while Hundred Flowers Awards is held biennially. Launched in 1992, China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival is not only the most prominent celebration among all Chinese filmmakers, but also an appealing choice of the Chinese audience. As a crucial part of the Festival, the Golden Rooster International Film Section has been promoted as an emerging global platform for film screening and academic exchanges.
