Founded in 1956, China Photographers Association (CPA) is a non-governmental organization of professional photographers from all ethnic groups of China as well as a group member of CFLAC. 

The mission of CPA is to unite photographers, photographic workers and amateurs from all ethnic groups of China, foster talents in photography and prosper the Chinese photographic cause. CPA practices group membership and individual membership simultaneously, and currently consists of 57 group members and over 28000 individual members. The National Congress of CPA is convened every five years so as to elect into the board council and the Presidium.

By organizing training, photo trip, awarding, showcase of creation, theoretic exchange, publication, art voluntary service, lawful rights protection and exchange with foreign counterparts, CPA is devoted to the prosperity of Chinese photographic cause as a sweet and cozy home for all Chinese photographers.

The affiliated media and presses of CPA are Chinese Photography (magazine), Popular Photography (magazine), China Photo Press (newspaper) and China Photographic Publishing House, while some brand events of CPA are Golden Statue Award for China Photography, National Photographic Art Exhibition, China International Photographic Art Exhibition and China Photographic Art Festival. Through the above events, CPA aims to facilitate technical exchange and academic discussion so as to boost the entire quality of Chinese photographers, as well as to promote the contemporary photographic development in China. CPA also takes an active part in the international exchanges of photography and makes its due contribution to the development of world photography.

The headquarter of CPA is located in a traditional Hutong in Beijing, which, along with CPA, not only accommodates the time-honored history and lively folk expressions, but also witnesses the dream and achievement of many photographers both at home and abroad.
