Founded in 1956, China Photographers Association (CPA) is a non-governmental organization of professional photographers from all ethnic groups in China. It is also a group member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC). 

The mission of the CPA is to unite photographers, photography workers and amateurs from all ethnic groups in China, cultivate talents in photography and promote the development of Chinese photography. The CPA operates both group and individual memberships, currently comprising 57 group members and over 28000 individual members. The National Congress of CPA is convened every five years to elect the board council and the Presidium.

Through organizing training programs, photo trips, awards, showcases, theoretic exchanges, publications, art voluntary services, rights protection and international exchanges, the CPA is devoted to fostering the prosperity of Chinese photography, serving as a warm and welcoming home for all Chinese photographers.

The affiliated media and publishers of CPA include Chinese Photography magazine, Popular Photography magazine, China Photo Press newspaper and China Photographic Publishing House.Key events hosted by the CPA include the Golden Statue Award for China Photography, the National Photographic Art Exhibition, the China International Photographic Art Exhibition and the China Photographic Art Festival. Through the above events, CPA aims to facilitate technical exchange and academic discussions , enhancing the overall quality of Chinese photographers, as well as promoting the development of contemporary photography in China. The CPA also takes an active part in the international exchanges of photography, contributing to the development of world photography.

The headquarter of CPA is located in a traditional hutong in Beijing, a place that, like the association itself, not only accommodates the time-honored history and lively folk culture, but also witnesses the dreams and achievements of photographers both at home and abroad.
