The China-Japan Friendship Original-Poem Calligraphy Exchange Exhibition was initiated in 1990 by the Chinese Calligraphers Association and the Japan-China Friendship Association for Original-Poem Calligraphy Exchange, and has been held for 31 sessions. The exhibition of poetry written in calligraphy shows sentiment of the authors and calligraphers and reflects the charm of traditional East Asian art.
The exhibition showcases 79 calligraphy works created by Chinese and Japanese artists. The poems are elegant in composition and the calligraphy features diverse styles. Artists of different cultural backgrounds have undertaken in-depth artistic research and consideration during the process of creation. The works of the two countries reveal their respective philosophies, aesthetics, cultures and poetry.
Conducting exchanges and learning from one another can enrich civilizations. The exhibition has boosted exchange and the integration of calligraphic art between China and Japan, and assisted the two sides in developing consensus, improving relations and jointly building a community of shared future for humankind.
