Located in Gansu Province, Northwest China, Dunhuang is an oasis in the Gobi Desert. Once a hub of the ancient Silk Road, it is home to the Mogao Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Yumenguan and Yangguan Passes of the Great Wall, both frontier defense outposts built in Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 25). With a clue of three groups’ visit, this video shows the magnificent cave art of the grottoes, the potential of Dunhuang’s ancient cultural industries, and the beautiful natural scenery of the surrounding region. It captures the former glory of this ancient city, which once absorbed the ancient cultures of Mesopotamia, Egypt and India.
